Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you visit thenewscentral.co.uk ("the site"), operated by The News Central ("we", "us"), and the choices you have.
Reading the site
- No account needed. You can read everything on the site without registering or signing in.
- No cookies for readers. The public site does not set cookies, and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking technologies.
- Delivery and security. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as IP addresses, browser details and the pages requested in order to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. Cloudflare's own privacy policy applies to that processing.
- Error records. If a page fails to load, we keep a short technical record (the page address and error details, without your IP address) for up to 7 days so that we can fix the problem.
- Audience statistics. If we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how many people read the site, it provides aggregated statistics only and does not use cookies or track individual visitors.
Embedded content and sharing
- Some articles include posts embedded from X (formerly Twitter) or videos from YouTube. Embedded posts are loaded from X when you view the article, and X's privacy policy applies. For YouTube videos, a preview image is loaded from YouTube's servers, and the video itself loads only when you choose to play it; YouTube's privacy policy then applies.
- On larger screens, the header shows international market prices supplied by TradingView. The price strip is loaded from TradingView's servers after the page has loaded, and TradingView's privacy policy applies to it.
- The share buttons on articles are ordinary links. Nothing is sent to a social network unless you click one.
- Links to other websites are governed by those websites' own privacy policies.
Contacting us
If you email us, we receive the information you choose to include, such as your name, email address and message. We use it only to respond to you and to deal with your enquiry, for example a correction request, and we keep it only as long as needed for that purpose.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, data protection law (including the UK GDPR) may give you rights over your personal information, such as the right to access, correct or delete it, or to object to its use. To make a request, email editor@thenewscentral.co.uk. In the UK you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if the way the site processes information changes.
